Some dogs are strong swimmers and make good judgements around the pool while others just don’t get it. Quick example, my dog Bailey is the sweetest dog but she’s is in the category of not getting it. One time she was out by the pool and decided it was a good idea to investigate the slide in the deep end. She was too bold and slid down and luckily was able to put on the brakes before splashing in.
I was inside and wouldn’t have been there to pull her out and there was a ledge in the pool where she would not have been able to climb out so she would have been stuck swimming around until I either saw her and saved her or exhaustion set in. Either way it wasn’t a good situation. So there she sat smiling away at the bottom of the slide with no clue how to get out of the mess she put herself in. I went and saved the day, after I took a picture of course. She learned the slide will get you stuck and I learned that Bailey just isn’t to be trusted alone around the pool. Also here is a ramp that I recommend to home owners as well is they would like their dog to use the pool with the kids in the summer.
